Little Disciples Preschool is ...
not unique as far as schools go, but I believe I have found my niche by providing a service that has been lacking in our little town. Children are little disciples in the making. They rely on us to prepare them for the future. Little Disciples Preschool will prepare them to achieve academic success and to develop a strong faith in God.
In order to achieve academic success in the future you need to begin with a solid foundation. It's important to develop good study habits and good character while you are young. Children can begin learning to read as young as three years old. Literacy will be a vital component of the curriculum in PreK and Kindergarten. Another crucial aspect of our curriculum is daily scripture study. After all, we need to learn about the one who created the world we live in.
Children learn about the world we live in every day. They learn more while they are playing than while engaged in any other activity. With that in mind, I have adopted a two stage approach to teaching. Stage one is active instruction. Active instruction is a play-based form of group instruction that actively engages the children in learning. Stage two is center-based learning. Center-based learning provides children with an opportunity to practice previously learned skills in a non-threatening, enjoyable manner such as playing with sight word playdough mats in the art center or using feltboard story pieces to retell a story in the literacy center. After all, learning should always be fun.
