About

Art is a critical component of all stages of life. Even infants can participate in art when a conscientous person chooses to innitiate such an activity. Pudding finger paint or applesause make perfect exploratory activities for infants. Activities such as these stimulate the senses and instill a sense of calm in the very young without posing a danger to them.

Open-ended art activities will be provided for students to participate in on several occasions throughout the school week. We will focus more on process art, encouraging children to express their thoughts and emotions through creativity and imagination.

Sometimes we will do educational crafts such as make sight word watches or alphabet hats to reinforce concepts that they are learning that week in a fun way.

A variety of mediums will be provided for the students to enjoy such as crayons, markers, colored pencils, chalk, and paints. Most paints will be homemade paints that are made right here on site to ensure that they are nontoxic and developmentally appropriate.

We will also provide an assortment of sensory activities for the children to enjoy. There will be several different homemade doughs and accessories in the art center. We will also have sensory bins that will be filled with all sorts of goodies such as colored rice, sand, jello, and many other similar things throughout the year. We will be exploring different kinds of slime during the school year, as well.
